Designer Olga Kolesnikova created this cozy house for herself and her family, which consists of four people. The house is two-storeyed, with a gable roof and a separate garage room. Even during the design, it was decided that a common area, including a guest room, would be located on the first floor, and a private one on the second. Two wings divide the space into children’s and adult parts.

The spacious kitchen-living room was designed with the expectation that the whole family would gather here: someone would settle down with a book by the fireplace, someone would watch movies. The owners of the house also receive numerous friends and acquaintances here, arranging joint viewing and games.

For the arrival of guests, a large oval table in the kitchen is pushed apart. “The oval shape is one of the best, such a table disposes to non—boring and sincere communication at any time, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a tea party,” the hostess of the house believes.

A funny story is connected with the fireplace. He appeared in the wall between the windows a few years after the construction of the house. “My husband didn’t want to change anything anymore,” Olga says, “but the desire to bring the living room “to mind” did not leave me. The fireplace insert was bought and stood in the garage.” According to the project, the fireplace was supposed to be located on the other wall, but by the time it was finally decided to install it, the place was already occupied by a classic composition: two bookcases and a TV stand. Therefore, it was decided to move it and install it in the wall between the windows, dividing the TV and fireplace zones.

The coordination of sizes, materials, and discussion of technical issues took a lot of time — there was no prepared, concrete-filled area in this place, and the total weight of the fireplace with a pipe was solid, so that a crack in the floor could appear after installation.

When everything was finally ready, Olga invited the guests to show them the renovation of the living room. But the guests did not notice anything new. To the question: “How do you like our fireplace?” they answered: The fireplace fit into the interior so organically, as if it had been there from the very beginning.

Olga really likes the atmosphere in the guest room. “You seem to be enveloped in warmth, you want to get under the blanket with a book, putting a cup of freshly brewed coffee on the bedside table,” she says. And the guests, who, as already mentioned, often visit this house, believe that the atmosphere of the whole house as a whole “works”: “You feel like in a pine forest on a sunny day in it.”
