Greenhouse made of old building materials: looks stylish and fashionable! Design 21.06.2022 It took more than two years to build this greenhouse, but the result was impressive! It turned out to be a real fabulous gingerbread house with comfortable wooden furniture and shelves for seedlings. Look how she looks! Card The owners of this country house with a blooming garden, Louise and Simon, bought it a few years ago. They live here with their children Nils and Elias and cats Kalle and Astrid. Even at the stage of buying a house, it was decided that Simon should have his own workshop, and Louise should have a greenhouse or even a greenhouse where she could do her gardening experiments and implement garden improvement ideas. CardCard And after Simon’s workshop appeared in the eastern corner of the garden, where he could tinker with his retro-autos, it was time to realize Louise’s dream. But it turned out that it’s not that simple. “We looked at hundreds of ready—made greenhouses, but they all looked terrible, not at all the way I imagined my paradise,” says Louise. She was already completely desperate to find a suitable option, when suddenly she accidentally caught sight of a garden pavilion built from old windows and doors in a magazine. “I immediately fell in love with this idea! ,” she says. — Thank God, Simon supported my crazy plans and undertook to build me the same.” CardCard Said—done! Work on the “garden house of dreams” lasted almost two and a half years. During this time, Simon learned how to design, and Louise how to peel off old paint, putty, insert new glasses into old frames. A lot of time was spent on this before the greenhouse was finished. Old windows and boards were collected wherever they had to: something in landfills, something at flea markets, and friends brought something. The most striking find was the crescent-shaped window, which took pride of place on the facade right above the front door. It used to decorate the building of the old Osterport station in Copenhagen. CardCard The greenhouse is built on a monolithic foundation, the walls are made of pine, the facades are finished with shingles of larch, which ages beautifully and will eventually acquire a noble shade, and the roof is covered with tiles, so that from the outside the building resembles a gingerbread house from a fairy tale. Inside, the floors are lined with old stone tiles brought from Louise’s brother’s garden. It was cleaned, put in order and laid vertically, so that a beautiful and durable coating turned out. The furniture was found at flea markets, such as an old wooden table or a wooden tub into which rainwater is collected from the roof. And Simon made shelves and shelves with his own hands. CardCardCard In total, it took the couple two and a half years to build the greenhouse, including one very wet and cold winter, which slowed down the process. But it was worth it. Now Louise spends all her time in her garden house, planting seedlings, germinating seeds and planning a large vegetable garden in boxes near the greenhouse. Vegetables and summer flowers grow in large beds, which Louise feeds with homemade compost. The plot is located near the forest, which the owners especially like — the air here is always fresh and invigorating, and there are so many birds that sometimes you even have to beat off your harvest from them.
