Hawaiian rose, hemp and sage: what is forbidden to grow in the country in Russia

We checked the laws and compiled a list of prohibited plants that have no place in the country and at home — otherwise, the competent authorities will deal with you.

Firstly, there is a list of narcotic plants prohibited for cultivation — criminal or administrative liability is threatened for their cultivation (depends on the number of plantings).

Secondly, there is a separatelist of quarantine — absent in Russia — and weeds. By the way, it also includes the well—known hogweed – they began to fight this dangerous weed at the level of regional legislation. We remind you that its juice is very phototoxic! Under the influence of ultraviolet light, it causes severe burns. So, anyway, it’s better to get rid of it as soon as possible.

A fine will be issued for weed plants if you have launched more than 50% of the plot and use less than 25% of the plot for its intended purpose (that is, for growing cultivated plants). In this case, officials can count the number of plants per square meter — and if the norm of weed and quarantine specimens is exceeded, they can be brought to administrative punishment.

In addition, there is a separate decree on the misuse of land, according to which, under certain conditions, a suburban plot may even be withdrawn if, after a fine and a warning, you lay idle, and the plants continue to bloom.

Narcotic plants

They are prohibited from growing by Article 231 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Illegal cultivation of plants containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances or their precursors (ed. Federal Law No. 87-FZ of 19.05.2010)”.

The list of plants, based on Resolution No. 934 of November 27, 2010, includes:

Blue Lotus (Nymphea caerulea)
Mushrooms of any kind containing psilocybin and (or) psilocin
Diplopterys cabrerana
Iboga (Tabernanthe iboga)
Cactus containing mescaline (Lophophora williamsii) and other cactus species containing mescaline
Cat (Catha edulis)
Coca bush (plant of any kind of the genus Erythroxylon)
Cannabis (genus Cannabis)
Sleeping poppies (Papaver somniferum L and other poppy species of the genus Papaver containing narcotic drugs)
Mimosa hostilis (Mimosa tenuiflora)
Mitragyna the beautiful, kratom (Mitragyna speciose)
Psychotria green (Psychotria viridis)
Hawaiian Rose (Argyreia nervosa)
Sage of Fortune Tellers (Salvia divinorum)
Ephedra (Ephedra L)

Remember — these plants cannot be grown at all! Even if you didn’t know they were dangerous!
