HES-2 presents a new Studio space for children and their parents Design 22.04.2022 There are two zones in the new Studio space in HPP-2: “Forest” and “Workshop”. In each of them, the child can find something to his liking Photo HES-2 A new creative space “Atelier” was opened in the house of culture “HES-2”, which was worked on by: curator Ekaterina Porutchik, teacher and co-founder of the architectural bureau UTRO Olga Rokal and artist Svetlana Shuvaeva. The task facing the team was not easy: it was necessary to make the “Atelier” interesting not only for children, but also for adults. As a result, the room of 256 square meters was divided into two zones: “Forest” and “Workshop”. Photo HES-2 The “forest” is a huge playground, the most noticeable object in which was a fallen tree, inside which you can climb and look into the hollows. The concept was developed by Svetlana, who turned to the image of a magical forest from fairy tales, where the hero, passing through various trials, comes to the goal. “The forest is an archetypal image in which there are many meanings. And it is ideal for a playground for children,” says Svetlana. Photo HES-2 All the trees in the “Forest” are textured, overgrown with “moss” and “mushrooms” (protruding geometric details), and two of them have “lichens” on which children could climb up. There are a lot of secret places inside where you can hide, and next to them are the “tower” of the waterfall and “snow drifts” made of special Soft Flex foam material, which took more than 2.5 months to manufacture. Photo HES-2 Photo HES-2 Next to the “Forest”, in the next hall there is a “Workshop”. It is inspired by the principles of reggio pedagogy, according to which all children are endowed with creative potential. There are four zones in the workshop: for working with paper, fabrics, wood and clay. Each is managed by a master who will help children and their parents master complex equipment. For example, to show how an electric jigsaw, an etching machine, a sewing machine or a potter’s wheel works. In the “Workshop” all visitors are allowed to freely use all materials and tools, and you can also come here with your idea and make, for example, a wooden stool or sculpt a mug. It’s a cool place with a craft environment for any age,” says Olga Rokal, who designed all the furniture for this space. It turned out to be flexible and adaptive: each visitor can transform the workplace to suit their habits and needs. Photo Ivan Yerofeyev Ilya Polyakov Original content from the site
