The shore of the Istra reservoir, which freezes in winter and turns into a giant skating rink, is a more suitable place for a figure skater’s summer cottage. “Indeed, there is a special atmosphere on Istra,” says Ilya Averbukh. — We often skate here with pleasure and play hockey with our son. I deliberately chose a dacha away from Moscow. Each trip allows you to switch and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.”

Ilya bought this piece of land with a wooden house a few years ago. He did not plan to embark on a grandiose construction, he only wanted to redo the housing for himself. To do this, he invited the decorator Natalia Pantyukhina. “We’ve known each other for more than ten years,” he says. — Natasha designed not only this house for my family, but also a Moscow apartment. She feels me right, it’s important. I trust her completely. Sometimes she even manages to convince me of something, which few are capable of.”

The owner of the house, Ilya Averbukh, is a world figure skating champion, Olympic silver medalist, choreographer, producer, CEO of the Ice Symphony Company, author of numerous television ice projects.

In the main house, inherited from the previous owners, the layout remained the same. The first floor is given over to a living room combined with a kitchen and dining room. The interior is decorated in beige tones with bright accents of cobalt and orange colors.

“The main wish was to preserve the magic of the place,” says the decorator. — In the main house, we limited ourselves to cleaning the walls of the old paint, covering them with a white emulsion, ordered modern furniture, updated fabrics. There is a lot of wood, flax. This interior has a family character in contrast to the guest house, which is a modern loft and more like a bachelor shelter.”

The initial plan to expand the bath turned into the construction of a full-fledged guest house with a bar and a hammam. The walls of cylindrical timber were covered with transparent gray paint. “At first, Ilya didn’t like this color,” Natalia says. — He wanted to paint everything white. And only when a large leather sofa appeared in front of the fireplace, Ilya agreed that this background was more advantageous for him.”

During the shooting, we met another inhabitant of the house, who jumped on the sofa in the living room at the right moment and took a pose suitable for a photo shoot.

“I have two dogs. Richard, a breed of Briard, was brought from France, — says Ilya. — His mother chose him. And everyone’s favorite Gabi, whom you managed to get acquainted with, was given to me by the guys from the play “The Kid and Carlson on Ice”. Remember, because the Kid dreamed of a puppy! Gabriela always greets guests.”

There is a tradition in the house: friends who come for the weekend gather by the fireplace. “I will not be original, this is also my favorite place, and also a corner on the second floor where there is a rocking chair,” says Ilya. — I love this house because it is warm and not pretentious. And most importantly — for the fact that he is mine. Work does not allow me to come here often, so I value every day spent here even more.”
