The bright interior demonstrates a professionally balanced balance between the desire for renewal and a sensitive attitude to the lifestyle, the character of the hostess of the house, between the restrained colorism of the space and bright artistic accents. The elegant setting is pleasing to the eye, comfortable for everyday life and at the same time welcoming and very functional.

The new business class residential complex in which this apartment is located is successfully integrated into the established Staromoskovsky district. Its windows overlook a quiet and peaceful courtyard, free of cars. Eurodwashka is a gift for the customer’s mother, an intelligent charming woman, a teacher of Russian language and literature. However, the interior should have been liked by both generations. Therefore, all important decisions were made jointly, but the voice of the future hostess, of course, became decisive. 

Redevelopment

According to the developer’s project, the apartment had a conditionally free layout, since the kitchen was combined with the living room. This room was expanded at the expense of a pantry. In addition, the exit from the hallway was made larger and more convenient by cutting off the protruding corner of the bathroom. Note that the wet zone was not affected and remained spacious enough to accommodate the necessary plumbing fixtures. In addition, the hostess resolutely refused a bath in favor of a shower cabin. 

The loggia with a small bedroom after insulation turned into an all-season lounge area. This is a non-residential premises. Its walls, floor and ceiling are not able to fully conserve heat. In addition, in the room to which it adjoins, as a rule, it is somewhat colder than in others. In order to maintain a comfortable temperature in the loggia regardless of the season, it was decided to replace the cold glazing with aluminum frames with a warm one. When measuring the window opening, the thickness of the insulation and cladding was also taken into account. We discussed the height of the handles, and also chose the material, thickness and method of mounting the window sill. Since the apartment is located high enough (on the 9th floor), mosquito nets were abandoned. 

Sufficient thermal insulation was provided by hinged plastic windows with double-glazed windows. The difficulty was in lifting the PVC structure with a length of 2800 mm to the 9th floor. Since she did not fit into the elevator, I had to lift her on cables in an interlaced opening with a width of only 100 mm. The floor, walls and ceiling of the loggia were insulated with slabs of stone wool, which, with a minimum thickness, provide the lowest possible heat transfer. The choice of material was dictated by the small area and the height of the ceiling in the room.

The advantages of arranging in the loggia an additional place to relax, read, and possibly a mini-office in a large amount of natural light useful for vision during the day, which is especially valuable in our not very sunny climate.

Repair

The stretch fabric ceiling is fixed by a shadow fastening system: a darkened gap is left between the wall and the canvas, thanks to which it seems that the ceiling is not fixed and hovers in space.

New partitions were built from hollow sand-cement blocks. The voids were filled with expanded clay to increase the sound-insulating properties. Slabs of stone wool additionally insulated the floor, walls and ceiling. Therefore, the stretch ceiling in all rooms had to be lowered by 10 cm from the base, and in the kitchen-living room by 15 cm, since ventilation ducts from the kitchen hood were placed behind it, as well as a slit diffuser for good air exchange. 

Reinforced sand concrete screed, floating. It lies on a layer of heat and sound insulation material. The floors in the loggia and bathroom were lined with granite slabs. In the rest of the rooms, a castle quartz-vinyl laminate with a wood texture was laid. 

Installed new tubular radiators and window sills made of artificial stone. Part of the walls were painted with matte paint, the other was covered with wallpaper imitating textiles. Non-woven wallpaper imitating textiles is a stable and durable material, it is able to withstand a greater tear load than paper, and even hide small cracks on the walls, which is very useful in a new home.

Design

The role of the dominant interior is assigned to the kitchen-living room. To minimize visual noise on the kitchen countertop, an additional work surface with a kettle, toaster and other small things was hidden behind easily opening furniture doors. The functions of the hinged cabinets are transferred to roomy pencil cases. Their light facades and integrated handles add lightness to the design. The duct hood and storage areas were hidden by a decorative box. 

Together with the apron and the table top, it was faced with a thin granite marble. Thanks to the beveled wall, a view perspective opens into the living room, and the hallway is filled with natural light. The space seems to be more spacious due to the mirror elements opposite the entrance door. The smooth facades of the built-in cabinet do not attract attention.

The accent end wall distracts attention from the wrong proportions of the bathroom and visually increases the space. The main lighting is complemented by the front illumination of the mirror and the light inside the utility block (it turns on when the doors are opened). The unit is hidden behind folding doors with an original perforation with a tropical motif and performs the functions of a laundry room and a spacious pantry.

Folding glass doors open inside the shower area. This is convenient and practical, since the water flows into the shower tray, and not on the bathroom floor.

The interior turned out to be calm, elegant and comfortable for life. Its feature is a balanced palette and multi-time details, originally woven into a modern canvas.

They say that the theater begins with a hanger, and the idea of decorating this interior began with a collection of paintings. Customers collected it quite spontaneously by different authors, directions and even techniques. It was necessary to structure the collection, divide it into groups so that, being in close proximity, the works would convey the story that each of the artists wanted to tell without interrupting each other. Therefore, we decided to compose the canvases according to color spots and techniques, and the interior, so that it becomes an organic frame of the collection, should be executed in a calm, monochrome color scheme. By analogy with the Canves baguette profile, which, due to its conciseness and restraint, does not add unnecessary comments to the picture, the modern style with its love of low-saturated, complex colors, the primacy of form and texture answered the task better than others. And by the way, beautiful composite frames made specifically for this project helped to organically fit classical landscapes into a modern environment.
