Interior for the pilot: studio apartment of 42 sq. m, which was turned into a two-bedroom Design 14.04.2022 The designer has allocated an isolated bedroom and a separate living room area, which is combined with the kitchen. Shades of sky color refer to the profession of the landlord. Customer and tasks The owner of this apartment in Khimki is a pilot of a well-known airline. He turned to designer Maria Rozhkova with a request to design a comfortable interior with an isolated sleeping place where you can sleep even in the daytime after night business trips. Also among the wishes were voiced: a workplace, a half-bar counter instead of a dining table, a roomy storage system where not only all things could fit, but also equipment for snowboarding and hockey. Redevelopment According to the original plan, it was an apartment free of partitions, but with a load-bearing pylon in the middle. According to the plan from the developer, a standard one-bedroom apartment with a separate room, kitchen, loggia. The designer proposed a redevelopment, which helped not only to turn the apartment into almost a two-bedroom, but also to make additional storage space. So, a small bedroom with a beveled wall was allocated on the area of the room. It was separated by blind partitions with a door, deliberately abandoning the window (natural light in this area was just not needed by the owner), and in order to ensure the flow of fresh air, a supply ventilation system was designed. In the hallway there is a dressing room, as well as a small laundry area with a boiler, which is hidden behind separate doors, and a storage room. The kitchen and living area are combined into a common space. The loggia was insulated, a working area was organized there and the window-door block was removed. Subsequently, they plan to install a glass partition between the rooms in order to comply with the necessary rules of redevelopment. Finishing Paint was chosen for wall decoration. The background color is deep blue, which is diluted with lighter tones of blue and white in the partition area with the bedroom. Here the coloring was done in the color block style. Also, gray-blue was used in painting the wall with the door to the bathroom. An engineering board was laid on the floor in the kitchen-living room-bedroom area and loggia. There is a practical porcelain tile in the hallway. “Engineering board today is one of the most durable, impact-resistant materials, while the top layer of the board is valuable wood species. At the entrance to the apartment, tiles were used, this is the most practical material in our weather conditions, it is easy to wash and even if there is water on it for a while, nothing will happen to it. A warm floor was laid under the tile,” explains the author of the project. In the bathroom, gray concrete tiles were used on the walls and floor, combining it with wood tiles and paint. One of the walls and the floor in the shower were decorated with wood trim, and the wall with the door was painted. We chose the same blue color to link the rooms together. “Also in the bathroom they made a large mirror to the ceiling behind the sink. It was glued between the tiles, in the same plane,” adds Maria. Storage systems A separate dressing room has completely assumed the function of storing the owner’s belongings, and for household accessories (for example, a vacuum cleaner) there is a mini-pantry in the hallway. In the bedroom there is a bed with a lifting mechanism, under the mattress you can store, for example, textiles. The linear kitchen set was entered into a niche, providing the necessary equipment and a place to store dishes. Lighting Ceiling lighting was decided thematically using linear profile lamps, which, according to the author of the project, refer to the runway (profession of the apartment owner). They were combined with spotlights, and supplemented with local light sources sconces by the bed in the bedroom and above the desk on the loggia. Colour The main range of the interior is blue, the colors of the sky are again a reference to the profession of the owner. Accents are dotted in the form of textiles and a work chair on the loggia. The orange color was used, and this is due to the owner’s passion for motorcycles, namely the Austrian brand KTM, for which this color is branded. Black details of furniture and frames with posters add to the graphics. Designer Maria Rozhkova, founder of Prorooms studio, author of the project: We made about six planning decisions and settled on this one, where we closed the sleeping place from the light so that the customer could sleep during the day after night flights. At the same time, supply ventilation was made. The customer agreed to all my suggestions from the first time, very boldly and gladly agreed to the blue walls throughout the apartment. It is always a great joy and luck to have such customers. I was very lucky. I am grateful to him for this and I know that he is super comfortable living in the created atmosphere.
