Josh Schweitzer's bright house in the middle of the desert, which can be rented

In California, they opened access to the house of architect Josh Schweitzer. A complex of bright cube buildings can be rented and lived there, admiring the unusual architecture and crazy sunsets. But photographing interiors there is allowed only by special permission. We make up for this omission and show all the most interesting inside and out!

In the valley of the Joshua Tree National Park in California there is an unusual complex of three multi-colored buildings. It was built by architect Josh Schweitzer in 1990 for a secluded holiday with family or closest friends. Recently, Monument House was restored and opened to the public for the first time. The house can be rented for a while (at least for two nights) to live in an unusual environment, admiring the amazing views of the local sky from the asymmetrical windows, have dinner outdoors or just sit in the courtyard by the fire.

Monument House consists of three separate buildings-cubes, which differ in the color of the facades and the shape of the openings.

Cube houses are visible from afar against the harsh rocky landscape due to their colorful facades and windows of different shapes and continue the tradition of experimental and radical architecture in the California high desert.

Monument House consists of three separate buildings of different colors. The modernist facades are painted in blue, muted green and brick-red shades, which resemble the palette of the local landscape and the desert sky. The main building has a separate bedroom, a large living room with views of nature and a bathroom with shower. In addition, the complex has a backyard with a barbecue area and a Jacuzzi, as well as a “gazebo” building with an outdoor dining area.
