The new La Panthère collection went on sale in February 2022 exclusively in Cartier boutiques in Russia and Ukraine.

The La Panthère collection includes six new pieces of jewelry that pay homage to the main symbol of the Parisian jewelry House and at the same time the tradition of creating flexible jewelry. In other countries, the collection will appear in the fall of 2022.

The main feature of the new jewelry was their flexibility, which Cartier masters managed to achieve thanks to a new technical achievement. Each decoration is divided into links, the distance between which is barely distinguishable. The two gold plates installed inside are connected to springs inside the panthers’ heads, which allows the jewelry to easily unbend and return to its former appearance.

La Panthère consists of a ring, a bracelet and a necklace with two panther heads in yellow gold with tsavorites and in white gold with diamond pavé, onyx and emeralds. Geometric black spots of lacquer or onyx, located on the entire surface of jewelry, are responsible for the ”natural color”.

The panther has been living in Cartier’s art workshops for more than 100 years: it all started in 1914 with black spots resembling the color of this wild cat on a wristwatch, then in 1915 on a pocket watch, and in 1917 this graceful predator appeared between two cypress trees on an onyx dressing case. Cartier masters created a product by special order of Louis Cartier for Jeanne Toussaint: for her wayward nature and grace, she was nicknamed a panther in society. In the 1930s, she became the artistic director of the house and popularized the image of the panther, which eventually gained a foothold in the brand’s assortment.
