Maya restaurant with African motifs is a new project of Natalia Belonogova Design 16.07.2022 The art of ancient tribes combined with modern details decorated the interiors of the space on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Photo Mikhail Loskutov A new project of Lacky Group has opened on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street — Maya restaurant. The concept of the place is based on a fascination with primitive cultures, and the main cooking techniques — open fire, steam and smoking — are reminiscent of those used by mankind thousands of years ago. Inside there is a wine room, two bars, an open dessert station and a grill — the heart of the kitchen. The interior is inspired by the art and culture of the indigenous peoples of Africa. The atmosphere of the restaurant immerses in the centuries-old past and the aesthetics of the hot savannah, flooded with the sun. There is not a single straight line in the space, and many details were created manually specifically for the project. For example, sofas resemble Owens’ iconic voluminous black down jackets with lots of folds. The vases that decorated the halls were partly brought from South America, partly made to order by Russian ceramicists, napkin holders made of volcanic stone, and acrylic stands in the form of tusks were used for serving. Contrasting shades of black and terracotta, filling the entire space from floor to ceiling, help to create a unified mood in the interior, which has built a bridge between time and space.
