  • Property type:flat

  • Where is located: Moscow, residential complex “Embassy compound”

  • Square footage: 137 m2

  • Style: Modern

  • The main idea of the project: to create a minimalistic functional interior, partially preserving the decoration in the Art Nouveau style

  • Color scheme: warm gray shades of marble and decorative plaster in combination with noble wood species — teak and American walnut

  • The authors of the project: designer Natalia Grukalo, architectural bureau “Sretenka”, T. +7 (968) 706-02-72

The customer, a young man, wanted a modern functional interior with a limited amount of cabinet furniture. “Our task was to integrate traditional elements from the previous renovation into the project: modular teak parquet in the bedroom and study area, oak windows,” says designer Natalia Grukalo.

The area of the apartment is divided into two main areas: common (hall, kitchen-living room, study and guest bathroom) and private (master bedroom with dressing room and bathroom). All rooms are designed in a minimalist style: laconically, without visual noise.

Simple shapes and light tones in the living room relieve visual tension, and noble woods and unusual decorative items give the interior uniqueness. The attention here is immediately attracted by an asymmetrical glass table by the sofa and an eclectic lamp with glass shades in the dining area.

The marble countertop of the large dining table and the non-standard configuration of kitchen furniture made it possible to harmoniously combine the kitchen-dining area with the living room, and the combination of glass and metal visually separates one room from another. Open storage is organized in the kitchen and a laconic bar counter is installed, where you can have breakfast or a snack.

The master bedroom is located in a private part of the apartment. Furniture of gray shades harmoniously combines with a dark wooden floor. A low bed with lighting and a laconic storage system nearby set the rhythm of horizontal lines. And the main focus was a sculptural chair of unusual shape from Zanotta in a cozy corner for reading.

The study is separated from the living room by a glass partition. Transparent shutters let in a stream of natural light, which is reflected from the glossy white surface of the cabinet, filling the room with air. Simple lines are combined with soft smooth shapes of armchairs, sofas and draperies of curtains. If necessary, the sofa in the study can be decomposed — you will get an additional sleeping place for guests.

White marble and a large mirror in the bathroom visually expand the room, which is filled with natural light from the window. The furniture composition for the bathroom and the cabinet under the sink with a single countertop is made according to the individual drawing of the author of the project. An elegant built-in bathtub harmoniously fits into the environment without weighing down the interior. The same purpose is served by light blinds on the windows that let in light.

The guest bathroom in contrast with the master bathroom is made in dark colors. Simple shapes and invisible doors make the atmosphere in the room as concise as possible. The only decorative element here is the oblique masonry of dark, relief tiles, stylized as raw stone.

“In the hallway and hall area, American walnut panels were used to finish the walls and ceiling, emphasizing the chamber character of the room from the threshold,” says the designer. The combination of the marble floor in the hall and the parquet board in the living room creates an ideal transition from the entrance area to a more private one.
