Designer Natalia Koreneva designed an apartment in Balashikha

Coincidentally, this apartment in Balashikha is the first long–awaited home of a large family and the first serious work of decorator Natalia Koreneva. “I am very grateful to the customers that they believed in my strength. I started working on the project while studying at the British Higher School of Design, having only two small implemented projects behind me. In fact, it was my debut, some technical nuances had to be mastered right on the construction site,” says Natalia.

The customers are a friendly family with three children. Dad is an entrepreneur. Mom is a housewife. The eldest son is a student, the middle son is 5 years old, the youngest daughter was born at the same time as the housewarming. “As usual, the hostess took the most active part in the project. The renovation process coincided with the daughter’s expectation, to some extent it influenced the interior design, which was done under the motto “the house where spring lives,” says the decorator. “That’s why bright details, delicate watercolor shades appeared here, and large flowers bloomed on the bedroom walls.”

“The original plan of the apartment with an area of 96 square meters assumed one living room and two bedrooms,” continues decorator Natalia Koreneva. – However, the needs of a large family have made their own adjustments. An alternative to a full-fledged living room was a small but cozy sitting area combined with a kitchen. The remaining area houses the parents’ bedroom and two children’s rooms: for the eldest son and two toddlers, as well as two bathrooms and a dressing room.”

“Almost all the furniture was made in the carpentry workshop according to my sketches. At the request of customers, a lot of storage systems are provided. Roomy built-in wardrobes and a dressing room in the hallway made it possible to hide everything superfluous from the eyes, leaving room for beauty. A cozy sofa in a niche was placed in the hallway, a boudoir table and an armchair appeared in the master bedroom. The vintage console in the lobby, which was found at one of the flea markets near Moscow, is also responsible for the beauty.”

To make the interior not just bright, but cozy and warm, the decorator used pastel colors and soft textures in the decoration. In the hall and in the kitchen, it is decorative plaster “under silk” in the color of delicate powder, in the hallway – turquoise velvet in the upholstery of the sofa in the niche. The facades of the kitchen set in the color of fresh mint echo with it, complemented by tiles with a pattern imitating traditional Portuguese Azulejo ceramics.

The spring mood in the parents’ bedroom is created by English wallpaper with a floral print. His drawing in blue and soft pink tones influenced the color scheme of the entire room. Velvet textures of upholstery and curtains, brushed metal and smooth shapes of lamps call to forget about the fuss, and there is a relaxation area on the loggia adjacent to the bedroom.

The younger children’s room reflects the general idea of the interior: it is sunny and cozy in spring. The space is conditionally divided into two parts. In the sleeping area, the walls are painted in a delicate pistachio color, the area for classes and games is indicated by wallpaper with images of fantasy houses. Roman translucent curtains on floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows are complemented by curtains with an active pattern.

The room of the eldest son is the only one that is stylistically different from all the rooms of the apartment. “The owner of the space is a student, and he would hardly like floral motifs in pastel colors,” says Natalia. – Elements of the loft style prevail here: a brick wall, spotlights on a tire, rough frame furniture made to order. But even in this room there is a spring blue and turquoise to match the general mood of the interior. I am very glad that we managed to create a truly cozy, bright and kind interior. The apartment really turned out to be a reflection of its owners, that’s how I saw them at the first meeting and I was not mistaken!”
