Thoughtful functional areas, storage systems and a calm interior, which was created taking into account the wishes of the hostess and her experience of living in the previous apartment, turned out to be a harmonious space where everything meets personal needs.

Customers and tasks

This apartment in a modern Moscow residential complex is owned by an adult woman. To the designer Margarita Kornienko, she had a request to create a comfortable and modern space taking into account her needs. The hostess does not plan to receive many guests, so the interior was made exclusively for her. 

Redevelopment

This apartment is a eurodvushka. This is the name of modern layouts with a combined kitchen-living room and an isolated small bedroom. In fact, the functionality of a two-room apartment is assembled here, but there is one isolated room. In addition to these areas, the developer has provided a bathroom and a small balcony overlooking their bedrooms.

Since the apartment is for one person, no global redevelopment was required, but in order to make the space more convenient and provide for the possibility of building roomy storage systems, the designer slightly changed the location of the partitions. So, the wall between the kitchen and the hallway was moved to fit cabinets on both sides and increase the kitchen space. In addition, the entrance to the bedroom and living room was moved from the hallway. The bedroom also provided for the possibility of a closet.

The hostess wanted to make sound insulation throughout the apartment, silence is important for her. Therefore, due to the installation of sound insulation materials around the perimeter, a couple of meters of the total area had to be sacrificed.

Finishing

Natural materials were chosen for decoration: wallpaper for walls in all areas except the kitchen and hallway, a massive floor board in living rooms and large-format porcelain stoneware with a natural stone texture in wet (kitchen, hallway, bathrooms). The walls, apron and countertop in the kitchen are decorated with quartz stone. And in the hallway, decorative textured plaster with a light shine was used. Large-format porcelain stoneware was chosen for the walls in the bathroom, which was laid without seams. 

Furniture and storage systems

The storage systems were thought out carefully and taking into account the needs of the hostess. So, she loves to cook, so it was important to have the necessary equipment and storage systems in the kitchen. One wall of the U-shaped headset is occupied by built-in columns, where there is a refrigerator, a freezer, a built-in coffee maker and also a built-in oven and a microwave oven.

The work surface will remain free, as a narrow rack has been thought out for small things, where you can put everything you need. As a dining area, there is a bar counter with light chairs.

In the living room opposite the sofa there is a modern interpretation of the “wall”: closed cabinets for storing the necessary trifles and books. 

A closet has been built into the hallway, where not only clothes can fit, but also household supplies, in particular, a vacuum cleaner. There is a console table for small things.

In the bathroom there is a spacious cabinet under the sink with a built-in washing machine.

The bedroom has a built-in wardrobe, which is divided into sections for casual or seasonal clothing. There is a bedside table next to the wardrobe in the aisle, but this section is designed just for seasonal things, so it will not open so often. In addition, the bedside table is light and mobile. In short, everything has been thought out to the last detail. Also in the bedroom there is a table that can be used as a toilet or a work table (sometimes the hostess has a need to work from home).

Lighting

In order to have enough light at any time of the day and in each zone, the designer performed the calculation. Based on this, we designed different scenarios. The general light is solved by spotlights built into the ceiling. And additional lighting is added in the form of floor lamps and table lamps.

In her wishes, the customer was based on what she liked or disliked in the previous house. And the concept was groped in the process of work at the stage of sketches. Therefore, we did not adhere to such a specific style. It was important to create a calm and comfortable space.
