The apartment of 160 m2 is located in the “ministerial” house of the early 1970s, the status of the tenants of which is eloquently evidenced by numerous memorial plaques on the facade. “The owners are a new generation of the family, they invited me to change the old atmosphere of the apartment: add colors, modern art, expand the space,” says architect Olga Freiman.

“In such houses it is impossible to radically interfere with the layout, so we just added a second bathroom and organized a separate dressing room,” the architect continues. — Engineering communications have been completely replaced, the “smart home” system has been implemented.

“There are not many decorative items. The kitchen is emphasized laconic, which reflects the modern character of the apartment. At the same time, we chose both modern and vintage lamps for this interior in order to create a sense of the connection of times, reflecting the history of the house itself.”

“To expand the living room, the number of rooms was reduced, leaving only two bedrooms. Part of the hall was turned into a library, this room occupied a special place in the list of customers’ wishes.”

The glass swing door separating the library from the hallway is made according to Olga Freiman’s sketches in the technique of the works of the famous French jeweler and glassmaker Rene Lalique.

“Among the pieces of furniture, we were especially lucky to find an elegant chest of drawers of the early twentieth century in Moscow,” the architect continues. — He greets hosts and guests in the hallway, leaving no one indifferent. The corrugated surfaces of this chest of drawers have become a prototype for solving architectural interior details. All the doors, wall panels, library and built-in furniture in the bathrooms were designed using corrugated elements in a modern reading.”

“The owners will create their own history at home and collect their own art collection. But a start has been made! Already, a special place in the interior is occupied by the bright works of Asi Feoktistova, Picasso engravings, bronze sculptures by Mark Kore.”

“We created a light, bright interior, enthusiastically picking up interesting works of art and unusual vintage items. However, comfort is above all for us! Therefore, for example, an ergonomic Rolf Benz sofa appeared in the living room, and bathrooms are equipped with Oasis furniture.”
