New restaurant No Regrets in St. Petersburg with ASKO studio kitchen

The new establishment on the Petrogradskaya side is notable not only for its thoughtful gluten-free cuisine and design, but also for the opportunity to hold cooking shows and master classes on professional ASKO equipment

No Regrets is a new gastronomic healthy lifestyle project in St. Petersburg. It was founded by Yulia Filippova and her like-minded people who decided to completely abandon gluten and open an institution for everyone who adheres to such a diet. Among the supporters of gluten-free cuisine was Yulia’s friend, architect Evgeny Skorikov, who not only developed the design project of the restaurant, but also became one of its partners.

NoRegrets is located at Bolshaya Zelenina, 34 on the Petrogradskaya side — an area that is called the new restaurant Mecca of St. Petersburg. The style of the establishment can be described as “eco-minimalism”. “The first thing we fell in love with were concrete walls of incredible beauty. Construction work and leaks have added their own unique patterns — a kind of “frescoes of time”. Therefore, the walls became the basis. All the elements brought into the project are inspired or created by nature. So the nature of the metropolis and the nature of fields and forests mixed up,” the authors of the project say.

The interior is built on the contrast of cold concrete walls and stainless steel with warm materials (wood, dried flowers, fabrics), rough textures and glossy surfaces (mirrors, shiny steel, Tom Dixon ball lamps).

By the way, there is a whole story connected with these lamps. “Together with chairs from Spanish manufacturers, they were stuck at customs and did not have time to arrive in Russia in time for the opening of the restaurant. Therefore, instead of them, we had to build a kind of chandelier made of dried flowers, woven from needles and tiny light bulbs, ” the authors of the project say. — When the cargo finally arrived, the electricians connected the lamps so that they do not shine at full brightness. But the result is absolutely magical, cosmic! Every evening guest is now certainly photographed for memory against the background of the flickering moonlight.”

The layout is largely dictated by the inability to dismantle the supporting structures. The suite of three trading halls was broken by a load-bearing wall between the first two spaces, so it was decided to make a mirror wall at a slight angle, which visually connected both halls.

There are many handmade items in the interior. This is the author’s ceramics, and a rustic table made of poplar with a chandelier made of Crimean dried flowers (veinika, burdock, lavender and sorghum) frozen over it — it is noteworthy that even these cereals are chosen with meaning: they do not contain gluten! But the most amazing thing is the tables made of the same dried flowers and random autumn finds filled with epoxy resin, the compositions of plants for countertops were made by Eugene and Julia and laid out with their own hands!

And finally, I would like to mention separately the open kitchen-studio, created with the support of the Swedish brand Asko. The studio hall can work both in the usual everyday format and turn into a professional space for cooking shows, master classes, lectures and private events. Of course with a healthy lifestyle theme.
