Designer Natalia Khudaya worked with the customer of this office, so unlike an office, for ten years, so she got complete freedom in choosing the style, decor and details of the project. “I was given a theme, but otherwise full will,” she recalls. The topic was determined by the company’s field of activity: fish farming.

While working on the project, Natalia not only fell in love with fish, but also learned about many rules of its breeding — what is the optimal water temperature, what is the threat of standing water and where it is better to install cages. Why would a designer need all this information, you say? And you will be wrong.

The customer immediately said that there would be no routine work here, space was needed for creativity and generation of new ideas

The main design technique in this project is to work on contrasts of textures and materials: a combination of fluffy carpet and metal on the surfaces of lamps, tables, decorative elements.

“I think it is very important for a designer to get into the ideas and lifestyle of a client, says Natalia. — And this applies not only to living spaces, but also to places for work, where many spend most of their lives. In this project, I managed to create a place that I don’t want to leave, including myself.”

The customer immediately said that there would be no routine work here, space is needed for creativity and generation of new ideas, so there are many areas for communication and negotiations in the rooms. From the hallway you can immediately get into two main rooms: a study behind a glass partition and an extensive meeting area, including a sofa group, a large round table, and a compact kitchen area with a bar counter.

Since meetings can also be held in the evening, it was important to create a cozy, informal atmosphere in the office, which will contribute to disconnecting from the turnover.

The office turned out to have an absolutely “non-office” atmosphere. “Even when there wasn’t half the furniture yet, it was very pleasant to be there,” the designer recalls. — We sat down with dinner right on the floor, discussed the company’s prospects and further development plans.”

The “non-official” atmosphere extended to the work on the project: decisions were made after a short discussion, visualizations were not required, there were enough drawings “on a napkin”. The bold idea to hang a real ship’s screw in the office belongs to the customer. “Initially, I was even scared of his size,” the designer admits, “but he fit in perfectly.”

One of everyone’s favorite items in the meeting room is a bar made of natural stone. Most often it serves as a workplace with a beautiful view of the Gulf of Finland. In a small study decorated with engravings, you can retire to work with a laptop.

Of all the designer’s proposals, only one was not accepted. As an addition to the engravings with fish in the small study, birds were offered, but the customer refused them, saying that they were very harmful to the fishery.
