Panoramic apartment of 47 m2 with Russian avant-garde motifs Design 20.06.2022 The project of Pyotr Grigorash and Daria Blazhenkova has a plywood kitchen, an unusual fence in the bathroom, and even an office at the entrance to the apartment Living room. Photo Evgeny Kulibaba. Style: Lyudmila Krishtaleva The owner of the apartment is a young girl who has spent a lot of time in Europe. She wanted to create a modern interior, where there would be elements characteristic of Soviet aesthetics. The idea to use the motifs of the Russian avant-garde did not come immediately, but everyone liked it. Therefore, the main part of the furniture is chosen in simple geometric shapes. To maintain the avant-garde theme, the architects introduced bright shades, although slightly muted, compared to the local colors of the 1920s. Kitchen-living room. Style: Lyudmila Krishtaleva With the help of zoning and a small redevelopment, it was possible to find a place for all the rooms needed by the customer: an entrance hall, a study, a kitchen-living room, a bedroom with a dressing room, a bathroom and even a laundry room. In order to visually break the plane of the wall running from the hallway throughout the living room, a niche was organized around which a blue portal appeared. Thus, the entire kitchen-living room space began to look more interesting and voluminous. The most unusual item in this interior is the author’s kitchen made of plywood with a rounded part of the kitchen island and a round support under the movable countertop. Their form gives a reference to the architecture of the constructivist era. Kitchen unit with built-in refrigerator. Semi-wooden chairs, Artu. Photo Evgeny Kulibaba. Style: Lyudmila Krishtaleva In the high part of the kitchen there is not only a built—in refrigerator, but also a wardrobe – with access from the hallway. Combining the functions in one element made it possible to allocate a zone for working from home in place of the hallway. View of the kitchen and part of the hallway. The location of the refrigerator is given by the perforation of the plywood skirting board, made for ventilation. The table top of the peninsula moves away from the window, making room for guest chairs. Kitchen furniture is made to order according to the sketches of architects. Semi-wooden chairs, Artu. Photo Evgeny Kulibaba. Style: Lyudmila Krishtaleva The kitchen furniture is made according to the architects’ sketches from plywood tinted with white oil. Despite the small size of the kitchen modules, all the necessary functionality has been placed here. Behind the movable countertop of the kitchen peninsula, you can look at the panoramic views from the high floor. And if you move the table away from the window, you will be able to arrange a lunch for 4-5 people. True, everyone will have to sit behind semi-bar stools, but the owner likes this option, reminding the atmosphere of a cafe. 1/2 View from the kitchen-living room towards the bedroom. Style: Lyudmila Krishtaleva The doors to the bedroom and bathroom go directly into the living room, so Peter and Daria chose the most inconspicuous option with canvases for painting. In order for the doors to visually merge with the walls, even skirting boards were abandoned, the cork threshold became the joint of the parquet with the wall. “The industrial parquet was not chosen by chance. Firstly, it fit perfectly into the desired style, and secondly, it perfectly matched the thickness of the entrance door already installed by the developer and the cast screed. So we managed to avoid additional construction work and, accordingly, save money,” says Pyotr Grigorash. +1 A bed with a semicircular back was chosen for the bedroom, a bright bedside table and an unusual Italian floor lamp were placed next to it, which supported both the color and the mood of the entire apartment. They decided to leave a small niche resulting from changing the plasticity of the wall and use it for a pedestal with decor. Hallway-office. Next to the mini-office, a large mirror was installed on the wall, which visually increases the volume of the room and reflects light from the window. At the request of the owner, a bathtub was installed in the bathroom. To make it possible to take a full shower in it, the architects came up with a solution: part of the bath is fenced off with bright rounded partitions to support the overall theme using simple geometric shapes. Initially, bright partitions around the bath were planned to be ordered from colored concrete. But due to the long production time of these panels and the complexity of their geometry, they were abandoned in favor of micro-concrete. Fortunately, the palette of this material turned out to be more suitable, and it was possible to add bright shades to this room as well. Bathroom.
