Maria Porro, President of Salone del Mobile, told what the exhibition will be like in June 2022.

In January, the organizers of the Salone del Mobile.Milano was informed that the exhibition will be held not in April, but in June. This will allow participants to carefully prepare and plan their presence at the exhibition. Salone del Mobile.Milano 2022 will be different from last year’s Supersalone and will return to the pre-tandem format – with conventional pavilions and large stands designed by companies. But the organizers, as in 2021, will pay special attention to sustainability and ecology.

Return to the big format

In September 2021, the exhibition was attended by participants from 120 countries, this year the event should be held in a wide format and ensure a greater presence of foreign visitors. At the moment, exhibitors from about thirty different countries have already confirmed their participation. In addition, by June, the entry rules should change and allow more people to come to Italy. Also, if the weather is good in June, several events will be held in the open air.

“Everyone wants a big international Salone del Mobile.Milano. We have already launched an invitation program to ensure that the entire global community of designers will come to Milan, from leading industry figures to foreign journalists and, obviously, the best buyers,” says Maria Porro. —In addition, we are working with Fiera Milan to ensure complete security of the event in terms of logistics and organization, and are in constant dialogue with institutions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian trade agency ICE.”

Focus on sustainability

The booths will definitely return, but this year the exhibitors will be asked to follow the roadmap, that is, a technological map that will help make the exhibition more environmentally friendly. Its goal is to try to reuse the stand designs. Over time, these recommendations will turn into fixed rules. 

Special events of the 60th Salone del Mobile Exhibition.Milan

This year the exhibition will be an anniversary and will be held for the 60th time. “We decided to strengthen the cultural and fashionable side by organizing several bright performances and curating a series of major events in the city,” says Maria. – There will be an event in La Scala and a large exhibition in the Palazzo Reale – an interactive installation, a gift from Salone del Mobile.Milano to the city, which will last two weeks. There is also a new development regarding SaloneSatellite””

The SaloneSatellite exposition dedicated to young designers will be placed at the beginning of the fair — and you will not need a ticket to visit it. This will make it more accessible. In addition, a large project on the topic of inclusive design will be presented.

Digital technologies

“The digital platform will become a tool that will help visitors get acquainted with the fairs of previous years and navigate real exhibition venues. This will also allow those who cannot attend in person to join. The next big event will be an international press conference on March 16, during which a global presentation of various projects and all the latest news will take place.”
