A new project by restaurateur Boris Zarkov has combined Mediterranean and Japanese cuisine in a space that should convey the idea of harmony with the world and choosing a more conscious, ethical and eco—friendly lifestyle – this is how the concept of wellbeing bistro She can be described. And the bureau NB Studio, headed by Natalia Belonogova, helped to turn the interiors of the restaurant into a real work of art.

“By the nature of my activity, I often look at how chefs in the kitchen are engaged in gastronomic creation and creativity. At this moment, I always involuntarily think about contemporary art. In the kitchen, completely new forms are being invented, not only in terms of content, but even purely visually. So, how can I not remember about modern architecture and my favorite architects Tadao Ando, Peter Zumtore, David Chipperfield!” — says the architect.

“The unusual wooden chairs on the second floor are made according to the sketches of an artist from the Netherlands, who specializes in the manufacture of objects from recycled materials. We bought a bunch of different old chairs at the market, cut them into pieces and assembled new ones from them. So we managed to maintain the trend of reasonable consumption and create beauty.”

“At the very beginning of the project, I purposely walked past the building many times, looked into the windows and imagined what it would be interesting for me, as a person just walking down the street with a huge number of restaurants, to see. It seemed to me that not only the interior, but also the picture outside should be unusual and exciting.”

“As a result, I decided to focus on several unusual and very large objects that will be noticeable even from the street. First, we cut through the roof in several places to let in sunlight from the side of the house, where there are practically no windows. At that moment, it became obvious to everyone that it was necessary to remove the ceilings and “open” the room, half of which would be occupied by a kitchen with an unusual layout. As a result, the kitchen islands just stand in the hall, and nothing separates them from the visitors.”

“Through a round hole between the first and second floor, a five-meter chandelier, created manually according to an individual project, descends. It uses only natural materials, and the composition itself breaks the rhythm of solid forms of wall decoration and is the totem of the restaurant.”

“It seems to me that there is a great lack of tactility in the world today, so I tried to bring it as much as possible into the interior, into the decoration of sofas, the quality of wooden chairs with a back made of thick velvety leather and tables made of brushed wood with a structure revealed due to this treatment and a soft rounded shape. I wanted everything to be very pleasant to the touch and real.”
