A few years ago we rented a cottage on Nikolina Mountain, so we know these places well, so the search area was clear. But things were more complicated with the house. We wanted an old cottage surrounded by pine trees. And such a miracle was found. With a lot of windows, the right proportions, lack of repair and nostalgic flair,” says designer Anna Zinkovskaya. On the ground floor there is a parent’s bedroom, a bathroom, a living room, a kitchen and an office. On the second floor there are three children’s rooms and a bathroom.” “In a very short time (three weeks!) we had to do a fairly large amount of work: to fix the wooden parquet, restore the stucco, change the plumbing, re-glue the wallpaper, as well as restore the doors and windows. There was absolutely no time to develop a full-fledged design project. I made a preliminary arrangement of furniture, but the end result was incomprehensible even to me. In addition, materials and textiles had to be chosen online, everything was closed due to the pandemic.” The painting Love is the work of Masha Cohen. I often, like most of my colleagues, buy decor, lights and furniture for my projects at flea markets in Europe, and it happens that I really like the thing, but it does not fit into any of the current projects. In this case, I buy it for myself. So a small collection has already been collected, a significant part of which I just attached to our dacha. For example, the street rattan chairs of the 90s from Ligne Roset, which were covered with Pierre Frey fabric, or the nameless Italian floor lamps of the 1980s, which give the right diffused light from the ceiling.” Desk and chair Square Roots, Gramercy Home. Photo Sergey Krasyuk style: Natalia Onufreychuk “However, the mood of the house is best reflected by Leonid Rotar’s painting “USSR”. According to the artist, it was painted from a photo of children vacationing in Artek. Leonid remade the painting many times, but could not complete it in any way, something was missing. As a result, the central detail was the abbreviation “USSR” in the center, made of pieces of pressed sugar.” Table, Kartell.
