The interior of a country house: Irina Lavrentieva’s project Design 05.07.2022 Decorator Irina Lavrentieva created an interior with a history on just 88 square meters The decorator Irina Lavrentieva had a dream, which was realized with the purchase of this house in the Moscow region. “My grandparents lived in the Ulyanovsk region, and as a child I often visited them,” says Irina. — Local craftsmen had golden hands, almost all houses had carved wooden furniture made by them manually. I remember how I could spend hours looking at the curls and petals carved on the backs of chairs and the sideboard. I inherited this furniture. And I was waiting for the moment when I could finally put it on my own dacha.” Living room. Vintage chairs from the 1960s were bought in England at a flea market. Table, mirror, The Furniture store. Carpet, bird figurines, Zara Home. Stairs, paint, Little Greene. The floors are made of larch. Three years ago, Irina and her husband bought a small summer house made of timber near Troitsk with an area of only 88 sq. m. “It was the most ordinary typical building: the facade is finished with siding, inside is yellow clapboard,” Irina recalls. “But we fell in love with this place with a small apple orchard and decided to redo the old cottage for ourselves.” Office. The table and the shelf were inherited from my grandmother. On the bookcase is a collection of gzheli. Curtains, Zara Home. There are family photos on the wall. The new owners dismantled the siding, finished the facade with wood, completely insulated the house, rewired the wiring, repainted the floors. On the ground floor there is a walk-through kitchen connected to the living room and an office. The walls were re-sheathed with wood and, together with the ceiling, painted with transparent white paint. “This decision helped to avoid the feeling of an overhanging ceiling. On the ground floor, its height is only 2, 4 m, — says Irina. — At the same time, the texture of the tree is visible. This is important for a country house.” A fragment of the living room. Chest of drawers, Bookcase store. The sewn ceiling beams of the second floor were opened, thereby adding height to the room — there is a bedroom and a nursery. In order not to overload small rooms, the decorator alternated large objects with miniature ones. Living room. The wall is finished with porcelain tiles, collection Ardesia, Gayafores. The walls are covered with paint, Little Greene. Beds, IKEA. Chest of drawers, Bookcase store. Rugs, Zara Home. When planning storage systems, Irina used the space under the roof, allocating space for built-in cabinets. The space under the stairs, on the contrary, was not occupied by cabinets. “The tiny living room has only benefited from this,— says Irina. — We “bared” the structure. There is more free space. And the ladder itself turned out to be light, flying. Its creaking is one of the most cozy sounds in a country house.” Office. Bed, IKEA, painted bright blue. Carpet, Zara Home. On the table — a cup and saucer, IFZ. “By alternating large objects with miniature ones, you bring down the scale and expand the room” Bedroom. Chair, vintage.
