Two-storey townhouse with a basement in the style of American classics Design 05.04.2022 Despite the complexity of the task and the lockdown, a two-storey townhouse within Moscow managed to be equipped in the shortest possible time. The interior was created for adherents of the American neoclassical style and functional solutions. Customers and tasks The customers, a young couple with a child, purchased a townhouse in the Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo park area. The residential building was built of brick on a monolithic reinforced concrete strip foundation and lined with decorative bricks from the outside. By the time of purchase, the construction was completed, all the main central communications were carried out: water supply, sewerage and heating, but partial repairs of the roof, interior decoration and a new configuration of spaces were required. Natalia Yudina and Ksenia Mayakina from the U-project architectural bureau were invited to work on the project. Layout On three floors, two full-fledged and one basement, it was necessary to plan all the necessary functional areas, and in such a way as to fully utilize every square centimeter of space. The non-standard shape of the structure, which represents two rectangular volumes offset relative to each other, the difference in floor level on the ground floor, sloping ceilings and the location of windows in the attic, all this introduced certain limitations in the development of planning solutions, despite the absence of internal partitions. As a result, out of the many options offered, the most practical one was chosen, meeting the wishes of customers more than the rest. So, in the basement, in addition to technical rooms, a dressing room, a utility room and a wine cellar of the owner were placed. One wing of the attic floor became the parent territory, including a bedroom, a wet area with a shower and an open dressing room, another nursery with a living room, a private bathroom, and an office. Finally, the first floor has completely retreated to general-purpose spaces: a living room and a guest bathroom were planned on a lower level, and a kitchen-dining room on an elevation. The house territory has also undergone a number of changes. One of the wishes of the customers was to organize an open terrace adjacent to the house for family recreation in the fresh air. Based on this, the architects developed a project of an almost square extension with an area of 30 square meters. m with an exit from the kitchen, for which one of the windows in this area was expanded and turned into a door, and the steps for descending to the landing were carried out along the side of the facade. As partitions protecting the terrace space from the prying eyes of neighbors, on the one hand there are fences integrated into planters for dense green spaces, on the other a sofa in a construction design with high armrests and a back (the rigid base was supplemented with soft pillows) and a pair of outdoor planters.
