Detailed instructions for coloring

To please the result, it is not enough to choose the coloring composition correctly, you need to apply it correctly. We have prepared a simple step-by-step instruction, we paint the kitchen facade white together. 

1. Preparation for work

They start by disassembling the headset. It is desirable to disassemble all modules: remove the windows, remove the doors, remove the drawers. The fittings also need to be removed. After that, a careful inspection of all the details is carried out. It is necessary to identify all defects of surfaces, breakages or deformations of hinges and guides. At this stage, a decision is made on the need to repair facades and replace fittings, 

2. Matting

In order for the coloring layer to be uniform and well held on the base, the surface must be prepared. First, if possible, remove the old finish. The PVC film is heated with a construction hairdryer and carefully removed. The paint or varnish is softened with a solvent and cleaned off. If the coating is strong and it is very difficult to remove it, leave it in place. After that, they begin to seal small defects: cracks, chips, dents. 

They are sealed with putty. Mastic is laid in the cavity, carefully distributed with a spatula. After curing, they are cleaned. Then proceed to matting. To do this, clean all surfaces with sandpaper with coarse grain. The second cleaning is carried out with fine-grained sandpaper. If greasy or dirty spots remain on the base, they are destroyed with a solvent and cleaned off. All the coating must be dedusted and degreased. To do this, clean it with a brush and wipe it with any solvent.  

3. Priming

The primer is selected based on the base material. It is important not to make a mistake, because the primer affects the quality of adhesion of the paint layer with the base. The parts are laid out on a horizontal surface, covered with a layer of primer. Apply it with a roller or brush. Allowed to dry, sanded, then primed again. Leave for a day so that the primer dries well.

4. Painting

After drying, they start painting. To work with liquid mastic, you will need a large and small brush, a narrow and wide roller. Their dimensions, length and type of bristles should match the type of material and dimensions of furniture. Coloring begins with hard-to-reach areas, corners, small details. They are painted with a small brush, carefully painting over all cavities and bulges. Then they start painting large planes. 

The paint on the tool is collected in small portions and thoroughly rubbed. Then it will lie flat, without streaks. An important point. Before painting, carefully read the manufacturer’s recommendations regarding the number of layers, the time interval between their application, working conditions. All this is exactly done.

If they paint with a spray can, they act a little differently. Brushes and roller are not needed. The part is placed on a stand. All objects, the floor and walls around it are covered with plastic, since small splashes will fly quite far. The can is shaken, after which it is brought 25-30 cm to the base and the composition is sprayed. They try to paint with uniform smooth movements, gradually paint over the entire surface. To fix the paint layer, it can be covered with one or two layers of colorless varnish.

You can repaint the kitchen set with your own hands. At the same time, it must be remembered that a good result is possible only if technological requirements are met.
