What an instagrammed feminine interior looks like: a real example of a Moscow apartment Design 08.03.2022 These apartments in the center of the capital seem to embody all the ideas about the interior for a girl: powdery shades, a separate dressing room with a window, a large bathroom in pink marble and many elegant solutions! Customers and tasks The owners of this apartment, a young couple with two small dogs, turned to designers Alexander and Alexandra Gartke with a request to arrange their apartments in one of the Moscow residential complexes. And although the apartment was created for two, it reflects rather a stylish, feminine hostess. The owner had a request to the designers to create an “instagrammed” interior. Of course, today we understand by this visual appeal what is remembered at one glance at the photo. But there were also practical tasks: to allocate a separate laundry room, a pantry, to make a dressing room, a large bathroom and a small bedroom. Layout According to the original plan, the layout was free. And, since these are apartments, the designers started only from the location of communications in the arrangement of zones. At the entrance, they allocated a laundry room, made a large bathroom with an area of 8 meters, in the center of the room there is a kitchen-living room, where the kitchen itself is lined up and turned out to be compact. From the living room area there is a wide opening without a door (the customers themselves wanted that) in a small bedroom, and from the bedroom you can get into the pantry. Along the trajectory from the hallway to the kitchen-living room there is a dressing room, it turned out to have a window. Initially, they planned to make an office there, but then this idea lost its relevance for customers, so the area was allocated for a wardrobe. In the conditions of urban apartments, a wardrobe with a window is rare, but everything worked out here. Finishing Paint was chosen for the walls and they were supplemented with double moldings. The staining was done mechanically, but it was not an easy task: since moldings frame part of the furniture (for example, built-in shelving in the TV area), it was necessary to install it first, and then finish painting. In addition, the use of moldings requires careful calculations. On the floor in the entire apartment, except for the bathroom, there is a grayish engineering board. According to the authors of the project, they chose this color for two reasons. Firstly, there is less visible dust on it. Secondly, it harmonizes with the gray facades of furniture: cabinets in the hallway and a kitchen set. Large-format porcelain stoneware with an onyx pattern was used in the bathroom. The main finish is pink. Gray-black granite was laid on the floor and in the shower area. “It was not easy to implement, the authors of the project comment. We have made detailed scans and cutting maps. All the plates were cut in parts at the production site, measurements were taken beforehand. And so in stages, 2-3 plates, because if you cut everything at once, then somewhere it might not come together. There are a lot of mirrors in the bathroom, they are here as an additional type of decoration, two walls next to the bathroom are completely finished with mirrors. By the way, there’s a hatch hidden there for access to the combs.” Even the flush-mounted door on the bathroom side is decorated with “porcelain stoneware”, merging with the walls. And although today the door panels are decorated with real granite, this option was not suitable for designers. Another solution was found. “Since the granite weighs more than 60 kg and is 11 mm thick, the door would have sagged. We thought about how to solve this issue, we even wanted to just paint the door pink, but we found a better solution! This is a printed aluminum composite panel. There is no image of this tile in good quality on the Internet, so we took our porcelain tile for scanning, got a high-quality image and printed it on this panel,” the designers shared. Furniture and storage systems The apartment has allocated several large storage spaces. The first is a long cabinet at the entrance with a pouf, under which there are also drawers, and built-in shelves for books and small things. The second is a separate dressing room. It was separated from the common area by a sliding glass partition to give access to natural light in the corridor. Inside, cabinets were built parallel to each other (they are open, and painted pink from the inside, which gives a light chic to the interior), and an island was installed in the center, where storage boxes are built in. According to the authors of the project, they spied the idea of the island in underwear salons, but here they planned it for storing accessories. The third place was the storage room, which you can enter from the bedroom. Smaller storage systems two built-in racks on the sides of the wall-mounted TV in the living room area, a console under the mirror in the hallway it can be used as a makeup table, as well as a storage space in the bathroom. Here they made a spacious bedside table under the sink, as well as shelves in niches next to the sink and a free-standing bathroom. The kitchen set turned out to be quite compact, it is lined up in one line and built into a small niche. However, everything necessary was provided from the equipment. In addition, they made an island that replaced the dining table, there are also drawers there, as well as a built-in wine cabinet. A gold-colored hood deserves special attention in this area. It is an island, connected to the ceiling, and to highlight it, the upper cabinets were made narrow, leaving more free space on the sides of the hood. It was not possible to find a gold hood in stores, so the designers chose a stainless steel device and gave it to be stained with titanium nitride. Lighting Technical lighting is solved by built-in spotlights, but additional lighting devices in the interior play not only a functional role. Chandeliers in the living room and dressing room look like decorations, elegant, massive, with lots of glass beads. The suspensions above the island echo the brass fittings of the kitchen set and the hood. The suspensions on the sides of the bed with flower shades echo the theme of the butterfly panels on the wall at the head of the bed. In addition to beauty, technical perfection was also thought out. The lighting is connected to the smart home system, so it can be controlled from a tablet. They also made pass-through and cross switches so that you could turn off and turn on the light from different places with one click. Designers Alexandra and Alexander Gartke, authors of the project: The initiator and inspirer of this project was a stylish hostess with great taste and attention to detail. She wanted a stylish “instagrammed” interior with gray cabinet furniture, gold hood, brass details and dusty pink upholstered furniture. There are many bright surfaces here: white walls, mirrors, brass details. The effect that a space made in bright colors produces cannot be expressed in words: lightness, lightness and tenderness! Initially, the supply ventilation system was not planned in the project. During the renovation, the customers wanted to add it, it was not easy, they redesigned the project. Some walls were built up, ceiling heights were changed. And we coped with this task perfectly. But it’s still better to plan ahead.
